How to Stop Procrastination, Fear, and Self-Sabotage
This post is for you if have goals, dreams, and aspirations in your life but you can never seem to follow through … something stops you.
It is also for you if you know you have a problem with procrastination, fear, and self-sabotage.
Are you finally ready to change? You can you know…
I’m not asking you to buy anything just read the post and consider the method I have created to taking control of my Inner Critic…a system that I have used to create a multi-year seven-figure business.
By creating and assigning a face and a personality to procrastination, fear, and self-sabotage you can consciously determine what your subconscious – your Inner Critic is doing to stop you from achieving your goals.
I have included an excerpt from the book that I am writing about how to…
Assign a NAME, FACE, and PERSONALITY to your Inner Critic
Training your Inner Critic is like training a puppy. It is running free and untamed most the time. Chewing shoes, furniture, and the neighbor’s cat. Occasionally it will roll over or sit when commanded to do so.
By constant repetition of the commands, the puppy learns what you want. It will come, sit, stay, shake, and a host of other cool puppy things.
Following is a summation of my personal system to overcome procrastination, fear, and self-sabotage.
I listened to what my Inner Critic was saying. More importantly though was WHY it was saying those things.
First of all, I named my Inner Critic Bud after our family dog that we had the privilege of knowing for 13 years.
Then I use emojis to help bring visual awareness to how my Bud/Inner Critic is feeling at any given moment. (You probably have seen the hospital pain emoji chart: it shows a series of emojis that describe the pain that you are feeling so you can communicate your discomfort level).
If you are feeling: Calm/status queue/ in comfort zone – Dog – Inner Critic that is willing to be led
If you are feeling: Procrastination, uncomfortable/”just one bite of that pie” or “Call that wholesale company tomorrow” – Fox – Inner Critic that slyly says that just a little will be ok.
If you are feeling: Fear, out of comfort zone/ panic…but Inner Critic feels you probably won’t follow through with your plan – Wolf – Inner Critic
If you are feeling: Self-sabotage, severely out of comfort zone/panic attack/physical reactions (sweating, butterflies in the stomach, vomiting, diarrhea). – Werewolf – Inner Critic
You will be able to train the Inner Critic by learning to listen to and understand what mood the Inner Critic is in.
By training the Inner Critic to recognize your voice as the authority figure you will be able to calm It.
Practicing this system is surprisingly easy using the behavioral emojis.
Your Inner Critic Can Be A Bully
There is much-deserved awareness about bullying. Bullying can be hurtful, harmful, controlling, and evenly deadly.
Your Inner Critic can act as your own personal bully.
It can destroy your dreams and can keep you in a prison of Its own making… all because It thinks It is trying to protect you and/or keep things status quo.
Inner Critic doesn’t have the final say in anything. It doesn’t have the capabilities of having the last word (end of book excerpt).
You CAN change your life and you CAN achieve your goals when you understand that your Inner Critic can be trained to help you instead of hinder you.
I urge you to consider putting a face, name, and personalities to your subconscious Inner Critic.
By being consciously aware of what is going on subconsciously you will be able to course correct your Inner Critic in real time.
Peace and Love
