Could Something As Simple As Repetition Change Your Life?
I LOVE reading personal growth books!! I have a library of about 100 books that speak about having the ability to do, have, or become who you choose to be.
Napoleon Hill’s classic book Think and Grow Rich (TAGR) shares a technique that according to Hill is…
“The ONLY known method of voluntary development of the emotion of Faith…”
What is the technique spoke about in TAGR? Auto-suggestion. Also known as repetition and/or self-suggestion.
Now, you have to remember that Napoleon Hill studied human behaviors for over 30 years. So, for him to say that repetition is the only known method is something to be taken seriously.
But, please, the other part of this technique…and just as important, is to add excitement and emotion to your faith-based actions. Get excited and become the person that has already achieved her goals! Visualize how it will feel when you have achieved your goal!
“In TAGR Napoleon Hill says, “The mere reading of words is of no consequence – unless you mix emotion or feeling with your words…, you will experience no desirable results.”
Plain, unemotional words do not influence the subconscious mind!
In order to achieve your dream goals, you must clearly know what those goals are.
Some of my goals were to…
- grow a successful business so that I could replace the income from my job.
- lose 25 pounds.
- (I’m working on this one): build a community of like-minded people that want to achieve their goals. A community that is tired of the constant struggle that they have with their inner critics.
I have developed an affirmation that I constantly use. By repeating the phrase, “I create my life today” (emphasis on the “I”) and knowing what life it is that you want to create is how you bring that life into reality.
Repeat it to yourself when you wake up. Repeat it to yourself 100’s of times throughout the day. While you’re doing this recall your goals. Doing this will begin to unwire your old habits and install new ones. (Remember: what you focus on expands).
Repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition…
You and only you have the ability to create your life.
