Reaching Your Goals Using R & R
Aaaah good old R&R. I never seem to get enough of it.
But this post isn’t about the Rest & Relaxation type of R & R. It is about a cousin of sorts.
I’m talking about Remind & Repetition. That is how I’m working on achieving my goals.
Neuroscience (don’t worry I’m not going scientist on you) says that in order to create a new habit you need to frequently remind yourself of what you want.
Making a vision board is the first step to creating your future reality. You have to actually spend time thinking about what you really want. Then you capture those ideas on either a physical or digital (or both) vision board. That board is then placed so you can see it several times a day.
Making dream boards or vision boards are inspiring, motivational, and dang it…just kinda fun.
Heck who doesn’t like to spend time daydreaming about the things you want?
My vision board includes a gorgeous rustic home, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a bunk room for the grand kids, the figure I see myself having, the clothes & jewelry I like, the places I will travel to, oh and, creating the income to support all of it doing work that I love.
But you can cut, glue, and, paste all kinds of wonderful pictures to a piece of tag board but unless you take some kind of action you will end up with just a bunch of wishes hanging on your wall.
I knew initially that I had to remind myself multiple times a day (like a hundred) of what my goals where. Hmmm, how was I going to do that that wouldn’t entail having to open an app on my phone? Lol 🙂 Digital version of my vision board.
I coined the phrase: I Create My Life Today.
I repeat this phrase at least one hundred times a day. It makes me stop and think about my vision board items and what steps I need to take next.
Remind & Repetition (the same thing you did when you started riding a bike, driving a car, learning to type).
Saying, I Create My Life Today has also caused me to become more focused on what the action steps need to be.
Saying, I Create My Life Today has also made me confront some of my own limiting beliefs. I have had to have conversations with my subconscious when it says things like…You’re not good enough…Your a hypocrite…What will other people think of you?
The nice thing about saying I Create My Life Today is that it has given me the courage to push through all of the negative thinking.
I hope this encourages you to start taking action. Write down what you want. Decide what action steps you need to take. Then tell yourself…
I Create My Life Today!!
